Other brands

On this page you find a mix of super8 brands and these are no longer available. Not all trademarks manufactured their own products and most of these were simply re-branded.

Many brands did not exists very long. We all know Revue, that’s nothing special but how about Cine-X, Sakura or 3M? By my knowledge there were only five major film manufacturers in the world who made cine film and these were the giants Kodak and Fuji, and furthermore Agfa, Ferrania and Orwo.

3M

3M super8
Colour reversal (50 feet)
EI 40 ASA tungsten
We all know 3M (Minnesota Mining Machines) from various products. They have also made super8 in the past. This was a colour film. I processed this with good results. A little strange was that the base was polyester, this could mean it was manufactured from or by Fuji?

Boots Movie Chrome

Boots Movie Chrome super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
Drugstore Boots had it’s own cartridge.

Boots Moviechrome

Boots Moviechrome super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
Drugstore Boots had it’s own cartridge

Cine-X

Cine-X double8
Black and white film (25 feet)
I processed this with good results. I did not know where this film came from, but film enthusiast Bart Sanders told me: ‘This is a brand from John Schwind USA and it contains ordinary Kodak material. Cine-X is Plus-X and CineChrome is Kodachrome 25. John let’s Kodak produce larger amounts at request. The demand from Kodak is that the product does not say ‘Kodak’ any more. PS The Pro8mm colour negative films are also original Kodak emulsions. Pro8mm can not sell these products as ‘Kodak’ brand.

Dixons

Dixons kleurenfilm super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
EI 40 ASA tungsten
EI 25 ASA daylight
A product from the Dixons stores, the results were not fully sharp but worth the effort.

Dixons

Dixons colour cine 2 super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
EI 40 ASA tungsten
EI 25 ASA daylight
A product from the Dixons stores, and this is an older type which you recognize that there is ‘process EM 25’ printed on it. The S8RL can process EM 25 films as one of the few in the world.

Ferrania

Ferrania MC 40A super8
The Italian company Ferrania made many different super8 films.

Fomapan

Fomapan R 21 double8
Black and white reversal film (2x 25 feet)
A very old film that was processed. It looked very good although it was exposed more than 20 years ago. It had some reticulation but otherwise it showed images..

Fomapan

Fomapan R 100 doublesuper8
Black and white reversal film (2x 33 feet)
EI 100 ASA daylight
The specific film you see here is no longer in production it has been replaced by the same product in a box with black prints. If you find this blue one buy it and use it, good image quality for a cheap price. Nice to use it when you want a different black and white film look.

Fortepan

Fortepan panchromatikus double8
Black and white reversal film (25 feet)
EI 80 ASA daylight
This b/w double8 film, and in general you can use b/w film tock way over its ‘process before’ date.

Free film service

Free Film Service color film for movies super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
EI 40 ASA tungsten
The brand Freefilm is not know? At least I can’t tell what it is. Can anybody help? The label mentions ‘free film service’ and it is a true super8 cartridge

unknown brand

Unknown brand super8
Black and white reversal film (50 feet)
EI unknown
The developed film had a low contrast but besides that images that you can enjoy.

unknown Italian

Unknown Italian super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
This could be a Telechrome cartridge and produced in Italy. That’s all I know, your info is welcome.

Perutz

Pertuz Peruchrome super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
Perutz super8 color film. I processed it and there were very beautiful images.
Perutz was once a film company in Munich, Germany, and was later bought by Agfa. Today it’s another label for Agfa.

Revue

Revue chrome RCH super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
No extra info available.

Tacma

Tacma 16mm
A 16mm from Tacma [or Tasma?] The film had a very beautiful surreal atmosphere. I do not know anything more from this brand except that there is a website http://www.tasma.ru in Russian that I can not read.

Technicolor

Technicolor super8
Colour reversal film (50 feet)
Over the years I have develop many expired 8mm and super8 films, but I have no information about this one except that the results after processing were satisfying. I also like the label design.
