Het Filmblik (the film can)

I went to live in The Hague in 1995 and there I soon became friends with Stichting Filmstad. A special group of people who produced their own films from, for and with each other. Since 2009, the laboratory has been based directly under Stichting Filmstad, in the heart of The Hague.
Their initiative ‘the film can’ produced many short 16mm films that are still very good to watch after almost 20 years. This is because restrictions had been imposed. Each invited artist was given a 16mm film can of 120 metres which has a shooting time of 10 minutes. The production tools were in place and there was a small budget, that was what had to be done with. In short, only people with good ideas and plans could make this a success.
Now a small selection will be screened at EYE on 28 November 2023 at 7.15pm. Filmstad Foundation has screened many film can films at the Paard venue in The Hague, where I was also a film projectioniast at the time. Order your tickets from EYE here.
